Chicago, Ill. – One of the four Illinois pharmacists recently punished by Walgreen's is back at work.
The four were disciplined for refusing to fill emergency contraception prescriptions. Now, the drugstore chain says one pharmacist has agreed to comply with a state rule that requires pharmacies to fill emergency birth control prescriptions, if they also sell other contraceptives.
Three other St. Louis-area pharmacists remain on unpaid leave and another pharmacist has taken a personal leave of absence.
Their attorney says he plans to file a lawsuit against the rule and a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission this week.
