First approval for limits on funeral protests in MO

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Legislation that would put limits on protests at funerals on Monday won initial approval in the Missouri Senate. A final vote is expected today (Tuesday).

The legislation was filed in response to protests at military funerals around the nation by members of a Kansas church. The protesters' leader says American soldiers are killed because of divine anger at U.S. tolerance of gays.

Lawmakers in several other states this year have been considering similar restrictions on protests at funerals.
