Pastor in Granite City accused of sex abuse

St. Louis, MO – An associate pastor at a Granite City church was arrested this week and is charged with sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy. He remained jailed this (Thursday) morning.

Anthony Muzzarelli, 27, faces seven years in prison, if convicted. Police say Muzzarelli knew the boy through his position at Mount Zion Baptist Church.

The teen reportedly told his parents after returning from a sleep over at Muzzarelli's house that the man had fondled him.

Muzzarelli is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Police Major Jeff Connor says the parents notified police over the weekend. He also says investigators have no information to suggest there may be other alleged victims.
