Refurbished Old Post Office is re-dedicated
St. Louis, MO. – St. Louis officials hope the newly refurnished Old Post Office building downtown will help revitalize the area. About 170 people attended a dedication ceremony Wednesday.
The structure is more than 120 years old, and was refurbished with $47 million from private developers and public money.
The building is now home to the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District as well as a downtown branch of Webster University.
Officials say new businesses locating in the building will help new development in the downtown area.
The rehabbing project was started in late 2004.
The project sparked controversy because developers demolished the historic Century Building to make way for a parking garage.
