St. Louis, MO. – The Blues will officially announce this afternoon that they've been sold to a group of investors headed by sports executive Dave Checketts.

Checketts owns the Major League Soccer team in Salt Lake City. He's also been President of the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks basketball teams.

Current owners Bill and Nancy Laurie put the team and lease up for sale last year. The $150 million dollar deal will keep the Blues in St. Louis until at least 2010. Checketts has also reportedly put down a $10 million deposit on the team.

The NHL Board of Governors would need to approve any sale.
