St. Louis, MO. – Chief Warrant Officer Michael Hartwick Junior is being remembered in his hometown of Orrick as a born leader who had a passion to fly.
Hartwick and Captain Timothy Moshier, of Albany, New York, died Saturday when their Apache helicopter crashed about ten miles southwest of Baghdad.
A group that claims to have shot down a chopper has released a video purporting to show insurgents dragging the body of one of the victims.
The disjointed, blurry video shows militants dragging a body, but doesn't show the face. His clothes are tattered but he appears to be wearing military fatigues. It also shows helicopter wreckage.
A military spokesman says it's outrageous "that anyone would create and publish such a despicable video."
