Columbia, MO – A judge has ordered the Columbia Daily-Tribune to hand over hundreds of unpublished photos to both sides in a lawsuit over the death of a Mizzou football player.

A paper photographer was taking pictures of a workout last July when linebacker Aaron O'Neal began struggling and collapsed. The 19-year-old player from the St. Louis area died within hours of what a medical examiner ruled was viral meningitis.

The school is being sued in a wrongful death lawsuit; both sides want to look at more than 600 digital photos.

The attorney for the paper says they might not appeal because a higher court's ruling against the newspaper could make it harder for Missouri journalists to protect unpublished material in the future.
