St. Louis, MO – A bit of trash inside a cardboard box caught fire during Thursday's Cardinals' game at Busch Stadium. It created a smoky diversion near the end of the Cards' 6-2 win over the Nationals.
A stadium spokesman says the fire was contained in a cardboard box behind unoccupied seats in the left-field construction zone.
Fire authorities quickly extinguished the blaze and were investigating the cause.
Cardinals players could see the fire from the dugout. No one was hurt and no fan was ever in danger, the spokesman said.
