Hillsboro, MO – The Hillsboro, Mo. School Board has rehired a high school principal and football coach, reversing a decision made a few months ago by the same board but with different members.
The board had refused earlier this year to renew the contracts of three staff members at Hillsboro High School, including principal Cheryl Aylesworth and coach Mike Genge. Two board members had accused all three of tolerating athletes' use of creatine, which can speed muscle growth.
Creatine is a legal supplement, but the authority that regulates high school sports in Missouri has banned its use.
Those two board members who made the accusations were voted out of office last month. The new board decided to rehire the principal and football coach, clearing their names along with that of an assistant principal.
The Board has concluded that the two never condoned student athletes' use of creatine.
