East St. Louis, Ill. – Police are investigating the death in East St. Louis of a man who was under arrest and being driven to the city jail.
Henry Armstrong, 27, of St. Louis, was being arrested Sunday as a robbery suspect. East St. Louis Police Chief James Mister says Armstrong had been at a nightclub early Sunday morning and was accused of a robbery there. Police arrested him, but he reportedly died in the squad car during the short ride back to the police station.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
