St. Louis, MO – A judge Monday ordered a St. Louis County-based charity to suspend its raffles for big homes and cars. Gateway to a Cure has been using the raffles to raise money for spinal cord research.
The order to stop follows a lawsuit alleging false advertising and failure to deliver prizes. The state is also seeking refunds for those who bought tickets for the raffles.
Gateway said Friday it would voluntarily suspend ticket sales for upcoming raffles and that it would work with the state to resolve all issues. Raffles being suspended include a $700,000 home in suburban St. Louis and a Bently automobile.
