Parts of Forest Park Parkway reopen to traffic

St. Louis – The long-awaited re-opening of the Forest Park Parkway in St. Louis is underway.

The westbound lanes between Skinker and Interstate 170 re-opened Monday afternoon.

Traffic is also being restored eastbound between I-170 and Central Avenue, as well as between Pershing and Skinker.

The has been closed since 2003 to accommodate the construction of the new Metrolink light rail extension.

The new rail line is expected to open by the end of October.
