Missouri lawmakers wrap up first half of session

By Marshall Griffin, KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Spring Break has arrived for Missouri's lawmakers. House and Senate members will take next week off and return to work March 27th.

The first half of the 2007 session has been either a boom or a bust, depending on who you ask. Not counting the MOHELA dispute, Senate President Pro-tem Michael Gibbons is satisfied so far with how things are going,

"We're really in a very good position to accomplish the major goals of this session, which, from our part, the reform of the Medicaid system, we're ready to take that up shortly after we return."

But House Minority Leader Jeff Harris says nothing has been done yet to restore health care to the 100,000 who lost it during Medicaid cuts 2 years ago. That remains his top priority for the second half of the 2007 session.
