St. Louis, MO – A Missouri Senate committee is expected to hear a number of bills this afternoon (Wed.) related to the St. Louis school district.

Two senators who represent the city, Maida Coleman and Jeff Smith, both have legislation to present to the Education Committee.

One bill would allow school board members to be recalled; one is related to charter schools; and another would remove the state's ability to create a transitional board to run the city school district. The state's board of education did just that last week.

Senate President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons also has legislation that would create a task force to study urban education in Missouri.
