St. Louis, MO. – Friday marked the final day of U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill's week-long tour of Missouri's V.A. facilities.
She visited 15 cities throughout the state, speaking with veterans about their experiences accessing healthcare through the V-A.
Today, McCaskill visited a VFW post in Maryland Heights, were she summarized a few recurring sentiments.
"You know, there's some common themes particularly between the Vietnam vets and the Iraqi War vets-an acknowledgement within our veteran's system that mental health care is just as important as physical care," McCaskill said.
McCaskill's staff says that of the nearly five-hundred veterans they spoke with at various facilities, most were complimentary of the quality of the care they received.
The one area that Missouri veterans routinely singled out were the long wait-lists at clinics stretching as deep as three-hundred patients, in some cases.
