St. Louis, MO – An Army lieutenant from St. Louis was among four soldiers killed in a roadside bombing in Iraq this weekend.
The Pentagon says First Lieutenant Daniel Riordan, 24, died with three other soldiers on Saturday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle in Taji. They were based at Fort Hood, Texas.
The others killed were Sergeant Joel House of Lee, Maine, 22; Sergeant Jimy Malone of Wills Point, Texas, 23; and Specialist Derek Calhoun of Oklahoma City, 23.
The soldiers belonged to the First Cavalry Division's Second Battalion, Eighth Cavalry.
