3-year old becomes eighth drowning at Lake of the Ozarks in '07

By AP/KWMU

Lake of the Ozarks, MO. – The Missouri Water Patrol says there have now been eight drownings at Lake of the Ozarks, after a three year old fell from a dock Sunday.

The boy, Lorenzo Guzman, was from Rockford, Ill. and was reportedly left along on the dock while vacationing with his aunt and uncle. His parents were at home in Illinois at the time.

Guzman's body was two hours after he was reported missing. Authorities said the aunt thought the uncle had the child; the uncle said he thought the boy was with his aunt.

He was not wearing a lifejacket when the body was found. An autopsy will be performed and the drowning will be reviewed by the Camden County Child Death Review Committee.

Mssouri law requires a review of deaths involving anyone under the age of 18.
