Washington Park, Ill. – The investigation continues today (Thursday) into a fire that killed a four-year old boy in the Metro-East town of Washington Park. Firefighters say they found Toryuntae Franklin's body in a second-floor bedroom.
The boy's grandfather, aunt, and five-year old cousin escaped with minor injuries.
John Franklin, 59, the boy's grandfather, said he smelled plastic burning and went into the kitchen and found it full of smoke. He says he passed out and when he woke up, the house was on fire. He then crawled through the house, screaming for people to get out.
