Wellston police chief injured in crash

St. Louis, MO – The Wellston city police chief is hospitalized this morning (Wed.) with serious head injuries after a car crash.

An officer who was with chief Robert Cossia also was injured. Cossia and officer Matthew Richardet were heading to the scene of a burglary in Pine Lawn in an unmarked car when the crash happened at about 6:30 Tuesday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the chief was making a eft turn at the time of the collision with a Metro bus. The officer and bus driver were not as badly injured.

The Metro bus was not in service at the time of the crash.
