Sparta, Ill. – The Grand American World Trapshooting Championship starts today (Monday) in Sparta.
The competition by the Amateur Trapshooting Association runs until August 18th at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex.
Organizers expect 7,000 competitors and 100,000 spectators during the event.
They say the competition is one of the oldest sporting events in the country; this year is the 108th annual event.
State officials say the event brings millions of dollars into the state every year.
