A new plaza with an outdoor balcony, cascading water and sculpture will open next spring in downtown St. Louis. The $8 million project includes money to sponsor lunchtime and evening music, street performers and outdoor films.

Jim Cloar with the Downtown St. Louis Partnership says developing the plaza was a key component of revitalizing the Old Post Office District.

A 1999 plan called for the new plaza. Community leaders have actively been working for more than four years to make it a reality.
