St. Louis, MO – KWMU has learned that the Normandy School District is close to hiring John Wright as interim superintendent.
Wright is retired but served for years as assistant superintendent at the Ferguson-Florissant district.
Before that, he was superintendent of Kinloch schools and oversaw that district's merge with Ferguson-Florissant.
Wright also served on the St. Louis Community College board of trustees and has appeared a number of times on KWMU's St. Louis on the Air, speaking about topics including African-American history in St. Louis and public education.
Wright will replace Connie Calloway until a permanent successor is found. Calloway left this year to head the Detroit School District.
