St. Louis – Police say a 16-year-old boy shot and killed by an off-duty St. Louis officer over the weekend was trying to rob the policewoman.
Authorities say the incident happened late Saturday, after the teen and another youth tried to rob the 22-year-old officer at gunpoint near her home in south St. Louis.
The second suspect, who is 18, ran away, but he was taken into custody later. The officer was not injured.
The incident happened nearly two weeks after another fatal shooting involving a police officer.
On August 15th, rookie officer Norvelle Brown, 22, was killed while on patrol in north St. Louis.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the slaying.
