St. Louis, MO – The process could get underway today (Monday) to suspend, demote, or fire St. Louis fire chief Sherman George.

That, after he did not follow Mayor Francis Slay's order to promote 28 firefighters by last Friday.

A lawsuit three years ago filed by a group of black firefighters called St. Louis' captain and battalion chief promotion tests biased. A judge ruled against them this year.

But George still questioned the effectiveness of the tests and refused to make any promotions.
