Illinois adds thousands of jobs
SAINT LOUIS, MO – Officials from the Illinois Department of Employment Security say there are 37,400 more jobs in the state. That's since October of last year.
The data comes from the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Officials say that since January 2004, Illinois added 178,600 new jobs. That's a bigger jump than any other state in the Midwest.
The areas that had the largest percentages of growth include Lake, Kenosha and Cook counties. The sectors with the most new jobs are professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and educational and health services.
