St. Louis – St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke has declared two new lay board members of St. Stanislaus excommunicated.

Burke sent letters to Bernice Krauze and Stan Rozanski to notify them that they are not allowed to receive church sacraments, such as communion, because they committed the canonical crime of schism.

Both were elected to the board in August, replacing two retired board members who were part of the first group Burke declared excommunicated in 2005.

That move came after a prolonged battle over the church's property and assets.

In his four years as archbishop in St. Louis, Burke has declared 12 Catholics excommunicated.

Last week, he declared excommunicated two women who were ordained as priests in an organization called Roman Catholic Womenpriests.
