Mo. revenues continue slide in March

By Marshall Griffin, KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Missouri's tax revenues continue to slide.

The March revenue report shows that year-to-date collections dropped by just over half a percentage point (0.6%).

State Budget Director Linda Luebbering says about the only bright spot there is, is that the drop off hasn't been worse.

"Sales taxes have been down quite consistently over the past few months...individual income taxes are still slightly above for the year, but the March numbers for individual income taxes were down quite a bit compared to last year," Luebbering said.

Luebbering adds, though, that Missouri's economic decline is not as bad as some other states, primarily California and New York.

She rates the Show-me State as being "in the middle of the pack."
