Arcadia, Mo. – Police and volunteers on horseback and all-terrain vehicles renewed the search early Tuesday for a 3-year-old boy who wandered out of his rural southeast Missouri home.
Joshua Childers was reported missing by his parents shortly after noon Monday. Searchers are looking in a rugged area near the Madison-Iron County line near Arcadia, Mo., 75 miles south of St. Louis.
The weather overnight was mild, with temperatures in the 50s, but officials were worried because the rural area is spotted with ponds and creeks.
The blond toddler, about 3 feet tall and weighing 35 pounds, was wearing a dark blue shirt and a pull-up diaper when he left his house through the back door around 11:30 a.m. His parents searched for about 45 minutes before calling authorities.
