MODOT: I-64 overhaul didn't hurt businesses
By AP/St. Louis Public Radio
St. Louis – The two-year rebuilding project that shut down sections of Interstate 64 in the St. Louis area did not significantly hurt businesses along the route.
That's the finding of a survey commissioned by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
The study says there was not much difference in the performance of businesses near the interstate and those elsewhere in the region.
While some businesses reported problems, those appear to have been related more to the economic downturn than the highway closure.
