Missouri Senate joins House in endorsing 'fake pot' ban

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

Jefferson City, Mo. – The Missouri Senate has given initial approval to a ban on a widely available and legal drug that users say mimics the effects of marijuana.

Tuesday's voice vote follows on the heels of the House, which approved a similar bill Monday.

The measure would ban synthetic compounds that are sprayed on dried herbs and flowers to give users a marijuana-like high. Possession of the compound would be a felony.

Both chambers rejected amendments that would have legalized medical marijuana in the state.
