St. Louis – Hundreds of people packed into the Kiener Plaza Amphitheater downtown Thursday night to hear St. Louis rock legend Chuck Berry.
He and rapper Nelly gave free performances at the behest of local Democratic Party leaders, who hope a public display of civic pride will aid their efforts to land the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
Party convention planners are visiting all four cities vying for the event; Cleveland, Charlotte and Minneapolis are the others.
Still, the planning committee site visits are supposed to be secret, so local Democrats would not confirm if the national officials are here.
