JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. –

Gov. Jay Nixon wants business, labor, education and other officials to help develop a plan for expanding Missouri's economy.

Nixon says there are important choices to be made about which new businesses and technologies to focus upon and what strategies to use for enticing economic development. Six local advisory groups are meeting across the state to offer their recommendations. Nixon spoke Wednesday to a panel focused on central Missouri.

The governor created the advisory committees earlier this year and wants preliminary recommendations by Dec. 1.

The local advisory groups report to a steering committee that
will work with a four-person statewide board.
