Art institutions participate in global Twitter conversation

An international conversation about culture on Twitter is being joined by The Contemporary Art Museum, The Pulitzer Arts Foundation, The Sheldon Concert Hall and The Kemper Museum. For Contemporary Art Museum PR/Marketing Assistant Liz Deichmann, the event bridges the gap between local and international art institutions.

“Museum week is a great opportunity for museums to participate in and be part of an international conversation about culture and the roll museums play in bringing that culture to everyday citizen’s lives,” said Deichmann.

Her coworker, Marketing Manager Ida McCall, agrees.

“It shows that we’re a part of this larger community and that folks here are connected to folks all over the globe,” said McCall.

The Twitter phenomenon hashtag Museum Week began last year in France as a way to promote international arts conversations. The event features different conversation topics each day of the week. Subjects range from museum secrets and shared memories to fun shared family moments and inspiration.

Pulitzer Manager of Communications Katie Hasler Peissig says the Pulitzer will try to highlight the characters that make the museum run throughout the week.

“For us, we’re hoping to showcase a little bit more of our personalities and what makes the Pulitzer special.”

She says the Pulitzer intends to use the week to highlight unseen parts of the museum’s renovations and preview their reopening exhibition in May.

Follow #MuseumWeek throughout the week for more insights into these organizations daily operations.
