The Career Of Roy Haynes

May 5, 2019

Jazz Unlimited for May 5, 2019, presents “The Career of Roy Haynes.”  Known as “Snap Crackle” for his snare drum playing, drummer Roy Haynes’ 70 plus year career spans all styles from bebop to beyond.  We will present his work with his own groups, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Kenny Barron, Chick Corea, Sarah Vaughan, Oliver Nelson, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, Gary Burton, Thelonious Monk, Etta Jones, Sonny Rollins, Charles Lloyd, Pat Metheny, Art Farmer, John Coltrane, Art Pepper and Clifford Jordan.

The Slide Show has my photographs of some of the musicians heard on this show.

The Audio Archive of this show will be available until the morning of May 13, 2019.

This is a video of 92-year old Roy Haynes talking and playing with Jon Batiste of the "Stephen Colbert" show in 2017.
