Compositions Of Miles Davis/Keyon Harrold Interview/New Music

Jazz Unlimited for Sunday, May 25 is in three parts.  The first part is the “Keys and Strings Hour” with Miles Davis compositions played without horns.   We will hear the Mulgrew Miller Trio, the Victor Feldman Trio, the Oscar Peterson trio, the Mary Lou Williams-Brian Torff duo, the Lynne Arriale Trio, the Red Garland Quartet, the Turtle Island String Quartet, the Ray Bryant Trio and the Ray Brown Trio.  The second part of the show is an interview with St. Louis trumpeter Keyon Harrold with his own music and that of Clifford Brown, Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard.  The third part of the show is new music with the Charlie Dennard Group, guitarist JC Styles playing the music of Art Blakey, the Bad Plus playing the first part of Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring,” vocalist Catherine Russell, pianist Vijay Iyer, guitarist Mary Halvorson, German pianist Alexander Von Schlippenbach and the Primitive Arkestra.
