Governor, others, to join Express Scripts at event announcing 150 new jobs

This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, Dec. 16, 2010 - Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will be back in St. Louis on Friday to join area civic leaders and politicians as they laud the announcement by Express Scripts that it is adding 150 new jobs to its complex adjoining the north St. Louis County campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

According to the company, in a statement sent out earlier today:

"The third office building, and fourth major structure overall, on the Express Scripts corporate headquarters campus solidifies the company's long-term commitment to the region. The project will increase Express Scripts' economic impact in the region, which was more than $986 million in 2010 alone."

Express Scripts specializes in distributing pharmaceutical drugs to consumers, handling millions of prescriptions annually that go to pharmacies or are sent directly to patients.

Friday's announcement comes shortly after Express Scripts resolved a labor issue that involved a plant in Pennsylvania, but had led to protests last summer at other facilities, including St. Louis.
