TheIllinois State Policeneed the public's help to find a vehicle involved in a hit and run this morning in the Metro East.

The ISP says 25-year-old Richard Hicks of Edwardsville was walking southbound in the northbound lanes of Illinois 157 near Mooney Creek Ln. just after midnight when he was hit by a large SUV, either gray or silver. That vehicle dragged Hicks about a thousand feet, then fled. Hicks was then struck by a large snowplow truckthat was clearing the roads from the morning's storm.

Hicks survived - he's in critical but stable condition at St. Louis University Hospital.  Police say the SUV that first struck him is a silver or gray-colored Ford, which will be missing the Ford emblem from the front grille and have a damaged, dark-colored bug deflector. Witnesses say the SUV was speeding before hitting Hicks.

Anyone with information should contact the the Illinois State Police.
