This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, June 29, 2010 - Eric Greitens of St. Louis is this year's Cardinals "All-Star" in the 2010 "All-Stars Among Us" campaign sponsored by Major League Baseball and People magazine that recognizes Americans who serve their communities in extraordinary ways.
Greitens of St. Louis is a wounded veteran of the Iraq war who co-founded the Mission Continues, a nonprofit organization that helps wounded and disabled veterans find opportunities to continue serving their country. To learn more about his organization, go to www.MissionContinues.org.
Greitens will be honored along with 29 other All-Stars, each representing a Major League club, at pre-game ceremonies at the All-Star game in Anaheim, Calif., on July 13. They were the top vote-getters for their teams, chosen from a pool of 90 finalists by fans who cast 1.7 million votes in the national campaign.
