Condemned Killer Stanley Hall
Condemned Killer Stanley Hall

By AP/KWMU

Potosi, MO – The state of Missouri executed a 37-year old man just after midnight Tuesday morning.

Stanley Hall was injected with three legal doses of drugs at the Potosi Correctional Center. He had been convicted of abducting Barbara Jo Wood, of St. Louis County, and throwing her off a Mississippi River bridge 11 years ago.

Hall's lawyers had sought life in prison instead because they claimed their client was mentally retarded. But the state said he was only borderline retarded.

Governor Matt Blunt also rejected a request for clemency.

Hall is the first Missouri inmate to be put to death in the past 17 months.
