"Marshall" is the story of a 13-year-old boy, who becomes the target of bullies at his new school, and a three-legged dog. The film received the Audience Choice Award for Best Film at the St. Louis film festival. The movie will be shown at Wehrenberg and B&B theaters in Missouri on March 7 and 8 in conjunction with Commit to Be Kind weekend, a statewide effort to prevent bullying and animal abuse.

The film is based on the true story of when Marshall was rescued from deplorable conditions in 2010 by the Humane Society of Missouri.

On Friday, "Cityscape" host Steve Potter talked about "Marshall" with filmmaker Jay Kanzler.

Kanzler said he and his team set out to make a family film for all ages.  “It has an anti-bullying message, but what we didn’t want to make was an ABC Family afterschool special. That's not what we made. We made a film that was very entertaining... and almost has the audience leave with a call to action, a call to kindness.”

In 2012, Steve Potter interviewed Marshall's owner, Cyndi Willenbrock for STL TV's "City Corner."
