Nixon Says He'll Attend World Series, Is 'Negotiating' A Bet With Mass. Governor

(UPI, Bill Greenblatt)

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon (D) says he will attend the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox, though he hasn't disclosed which game he plans to attend.

He told reporters in Jefferson City on Monday that he's in the process of negotiating a bet with Massachusetts GovernorDevalPatrick (D).

"I did have a chance to talk to him late last week in anticipation of the opportunity for the Cardinals to avenge our loss to the Red Sox (in 2004)," Nixon said.  "I am confident he is game, and that he should think carefully about what he is wagering, with the way our starting pitching is playing and the Cardinals are playing."

Governor Nixon also jokingly chastised a reporter for asking him who would lose first in football, the Missouri Tigers or the Kansas City Chiefs, both of whom are currently undefeated.

Meanwhile, Game One of the 2013 World Series is set for Wednesday in Boston.
