The St. Louis County Police have confirmed that a body pulled from the Meramec River earlier this afternoon is that of a missing Affton boy.

Christopher D. Marks, 12, disappeared Sunday night from a barbecue in the Pacific Palisades Conservation Area, just southwest of Six Flags in Pacific, Mo. His family told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he disappeared after trying to convince friends and family to try a rope swing.

The Missouri Department of Conservation posted on its website that the river access at Pacific Palisades was closed until further notice, but no other details were provided.

St. Louis County police chief Tim Fitch told the paper that Christopher had access to alcohol, but would not say who provided it. The case will be presented to prosecutors for possible charges.

In a statement, Fitch says no details will be released until the medical examiner's report is available.
