Sound Bites: Restaurants In The Loop

Oct 11, 2013

In our monthly Sound Bites segment in partnership with Sauce Magazine, host Steve Potter discussed the ongoing growth of the restaurant scene in the Delmar Loop with Joe Edwards, the owner of Blueberry Hill and other Loop landmarks, Ryan Pinkston, co-owner of newcomer Three Kings Public House and Ligaya Figueras, executive editor of Sauce Magazine.

Figueras interviewed Pinkston and his business partners Derek Deavers and Derek Flieg, for a feature in this month's Sauce Magazine.

The Three Kings has done a good job of both giving people what they want and creating their own identity, while navigating the tricky terrain of taking over the location of Riddles, a Loop standard for thirty years, said Figueras.

"We have great reverence for Riddles," said Pinkston. "But we didn’t want to do the same thing they were doing..we wanted to put our own stamp on it."

For the Three Kings, that meant serving craft beer and traditional - but locally sourced - pub food.

Cityscape is produced by Mary Edwards and Alex Heuer, hosted by Steve Potter and funded in part by the the Arts and Education Council of Greater St. Louis, the Regional Arts Commission and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
