St. Louis has a heroin problem. New attention was brought to that problem during the Super Bowl, when the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse–St. Louis bought local airtime for a one-minute ad.

According to the NCADA, heroin overdoses in St. Louis County have increased by 80 percent since 2007, but it's not just a St. Louis County problem.

Earlier this month, the St. Louis County Police Department launched a heroin education initiative to raise public awareness.

On Tuesday, "St. Louis on the Air" host Don Marsh talked about the region's heroin problem with Dan Duncan, NCADA's associate executive director, and Detective Casey Lambert, of St. Louis County Police Department's drug enforcement bureau.

“St. Louis on the Air” discusses issues and concerns facing the St. Louis area. The show is produced by Mary Edwards and Alex Heuer and hosted by veteran journalist Don Marsh. Follow us on Twitter: @STLonAir.
