Jazz Unlimited for Sunday. December 22, 2019 will be “Reflections on Peace and Quiet Revisited.” These days, things are coming at us so fast we hardly have time to breathe. The Winter Holidays are usually thought as a time of peace, but not for the last few years. Both our traditional and social media get our attention by spreading fear and rage. Political discourse now seems to be character assassination rather than debate of issues. Incivility has been increasing for years. In order to counter some of this, Jazz Unlimited will present “Reflections on Peace and Quiet Revisited” as our annual Winter Holiday show. The music will be supplied by the Jazz Crusaders, the Modern Jazz Quartet, McCoy Tyner, Geri Allen, the Pat Metheny/Brad Mehldau duo, the Toshiko Akiyoshi Big Band, Saxophone Summit, Abdullad Ibrahim, Art Pepper, the Charlie Haden/Hank Jones Duo, Stanley Cowell, The Roger Kellaway Cello Quartet, the Sackville All-Stars, Thomas Marriott, James P. Johnson, Paul Desmond & Gerry Mulligan, Keith Jarrett, the Jim McNeely Octet, the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra and the Charlie Haden/Carla Bley Duo.
