Missouri’s constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman is being challenged by a suit filed last week in Kansas City. Eight same-sex couples living in Missouri are seeking the state’s recognition of their out-of-state marriages.
A circuit court judge called a halt to red-light camera tickets in St. Louis City last Tuesday. Three days later, he stayed the order pending an appeal. In the meantime, all fines collected will be put in an escrow fund.
The Missouri voter-ID bill (HB1073) was approved by the House committee last week. The proposed law would require voters to prove their identity with an unexpired photo ID. But until a constitutional amendment on the issue is put before voters, bills that define voter ID requirements are unlikely to pass.
