“St. Louis on the Air” host Don Marsh has been named one of the Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis’ 2015 media persons of the year.

“This is well deserved recognition for Don,” said Tim Eby, St. Louis Public Radio’s director and general manager. “He’s a guy who is totally committed to providing St. Louis listeners with the best program possible and doing justice to each topic he tackles. We are fortunate that even after a distinguished career spanning many decades that Don has chosen to spend his time with St. Louis Public Radio, fostering important community conversations heard daily on ‘St. Louis on the Air.’ ”

Marsh has worked in media since 1959. He was an anchor at KTVI (Channel 2), a talk show host for KMOX radio and an anchor for KDNL (Channel 30) before joining St. Louis Public Radio in 2005. He has collected 12 Regional Emmy Awards and a National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences lifetime achievement award. Marsh was inducted into the St. Louis Media Halls of Fame in 2012.

Marsh and three other journalists will be honored at a Press Club gala on June 11, which raises money for journalism scholarships and grants.

In addition to Marsh, St. Louis American owner and publisher Donald Suggs, former KSDK (Channel 5) anchor Jennifer Blome and former CNN broadcaster Candy Crowley will receive lifetime achievement awards.

“St. Louis on the Air” discusses issues and concerns facing the St. Louis area. The show is produced by Mary Edwards and Alex Heuer and hosted by veteran journalist Don Marsh. Follow us on Twitter: @STLonAir.
