Comedian and author Ophira Eisenberg will be in St. Louis April 16, but it won’t be her first time here, she told “St. Louis on the Air” host Don Marsh on Wednesday.
“I’ve done a loop around The Loop, I’ve gone to see the largest replica of the moon on a roof-deck bar,” Eisenberg joked, referring to the giant moon at the Moonrise Hotel.
Eisenberg said she expects to have an “extra good time” because this will be her first appearance in St. Louis with the popular public radio program she hosts, “Ask Me Another.”
NPR's “Ask Me Another” features puzzles, word games and trivia in front of a live audience.
“Our usual brand of audience members are smart, fun, hip, nerdy people who love comedy, trivia and puzzles,” Eisenberg said.
Joining her on the stage will be local celebrity author Curtis Sittenfeld. Eisenberg will interview Sittenfeld and then play a game with her.
“I don’t want to give away too much about the game… but it has to do a little bit with her knowledge of Jane Austen.”
Eisenberg also discussed her career as a stand-up comedian, her inspirations, and her 2013 book, “Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy,” a memoir about her dating life that is on its way to being made into a movie.
Eisenberg said a frequent topic of conversation is which actress would play her in the movie. One suggestion is Jennifer Lawrence. She said, “I’ve always pitched Helen Mirren, I think she would be perfect. But they want someone a little younger. Weird.”
Eisenberg's live taping of “Ask Me Another” will be on Thursday, April 16 at The Pageant.
“Ask Me Another” airs on St. Louis Public Radio on Saturdays from noon – 1:00 p.m.
