St. Louis, Mo – The college basketball championship brackets are set. Missouri earned a #6 seed in the Midwest bracket, despite losing in the Big 12 Championship game Sunday. The Tigers will play #11 SIU on Thursday in Indianapolis.
The Saint Louis University Billikens missed the NCAAs, but will play in the NIT. They'll open Wednesday against Minnesota.
Jefferson City, Mo. – Republican leaders in Jefferson City say state can save $60 million a year by doing a more efficient job of collecting taxes.
The $60 million proposal is a counter-offer to a $700 million proposal Governor Bob Holden has for raising money. Holden wants to bring in more revenue by closing some corporate tax loopholes. But Republicans call that bad for business.
The state is facing a $1 billion budget shortfall for the fiscal year that starts July First.
The city of St. Charles plans to break ground on a new convention center this spring. The town is one of many mid-sized communities around the country who are turning to such facilities as an answer to economic development needs. City officials hope it will bring millions into the local economy. KWMU's Matt Sepic reports.
