St. Louis, MO – The husband of KMOX radio personality Nan Wyatt is charged with first-degree murder in her death.
This afternoon Police report that 43-year-old Thomas Erbland is held without bond in the St. Louis County jail. He also faces charges of armed criminal action.
Police say Erbland shot Wyatt mulitple times last night in the master bedroom of their home in west St. Louis County. The couple has a seven-year-old son, who was at home at the time but was not injured. Their son is in the care of relatives.
Springfield, Ill. – Illinois' schools chief told lawmakers Tuesday in Springfield the state's schools are near financial collapse.
Robert Schiller says 61% of the school districts in Illinois currently have budget deficits, and says that could rise to 80% if nothing is done. Schiller says the crisis has districts taking drastic steps.
Schiller says schools need $1.8 billion dollars, and wants lawmakers to cut property taxes while raising income and sales taxes. Governor Blagojevich has said he won't raise those taxes.
